Cheap Gardening

The yard looks a mess after all the snow melted, matted yellow grass, rocks that have risen to the top of the flower beds, dead plant stubs, dead leaves entangled in the ground cover. Have been wanting to do something out there so I started by edging the flower bed out front and removing rocks. It was looking good when I went to start on the other flower bed. It is one I made myself and I have never liked the shape of it. I call it the pregnant omebea. It is such a pain to weed and take care of. So we decided on the spur of the moment to remove it. Started digging up all the flowers and moved them to the smaller bed and smoothing out the dirt in the big bed to let the grass take over again. That is where the grass wants to be anyway so I am going to let it grow. Feels good to get rid of it, it was tons of work and not that pretty. Hopefully we got the plants transplanted early enough in the season that they will adjust and do well this year. So now I have had my need for gardening and digging in the fresh spring soil satisfied, without spending a dime!

Here is the smaller bed:

And here is the big bed that will be going back to grass:

  2. I hate yard work..and I am NOT jealous of you. I am happy for you, though. I'm glad you were able to do such wonders without spending money. You're great, and soon your yard will be too.
