Update on Kittens

So sad to report that two of the kittens have died. There has been much weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth at our house, so no pictures for today. Called our friend who placed the cat with us and she let us know that infant mortality is very high in kittens, especially since the mother hadn't been vaccinated, the other batch of kittens that they placed all died. We have three healthy ones for now, so we will see if they live.

5 New Kittens Today!

Well Happy St. Patrick's Day to us! Woke up this morning at 5:30 to 5 new kittens in the garage. They are all doing well and several neighbor kids have already been over to see the excitement. Zip, the border collie, already has a big old bloody scratch on his nose and won't go near the box again.
No - Sophie is not smoking, she was eating the sucker she got at school today!!
They should be very well socialized kittens if anyone wants to adopt one!!

Cleaning out the litter box!

Jaxson really wants his own kitten, I really don't want any more cats. So we found a great compromise, Foster Care. We are fostering a pregnant cat for the Humane Society, after we have loved them and socialized them they will be adopted out to families who do want more cats and we can do the whole thing over again if we want to. Jaxson signed the papers so he is responsible to care for the mother cat, which includes cleaning out the litter box twice a day. When I told him it was time to help, he ran to the drawer and pulled out a clip for his nose. Didn't last long, it really hurt his nose. Hope those kittens come soon so that his enthusiasm for caring for a cat will return.

The Skiing Incident!!

We took off right after school on a Friday to hit Sherwood hills and cross-country ski for the afternoon while the snow was beautiful and glorious. We had gone up on Monday when the kids were out of school and had a blast. Sophie wanted to take her friend down the hill where we had so much fun on Monday so off they went and the rest of us went around the trail the other direction. When we finally got back around we found two very sad, red eyed girls sitting in the snow yelling for help.
The snow was quite a bit icier than it had been and Sophie crashed on the first trip down. Her knee got twisted and she had to have her friend get her skies off her feet.
She couldn't walk and so we sent someone for the sled

We had to take a few pictures for the scrapbook and that did not amuse Sophie one bit. We all stayed together and pulled her down the hill on the sled. Had the neighbor carry her the last bit across the parking lot to the truck.
She was one sad and hurting girl. Got ice on it and pain meds, she is doing much better, but when we went out this weekend, she only rode a sled and had a snowball fight. She might be done with skiing for this season.

Happy Valentine's Day To Me!

I got a new dish towel for my birthday. Put it in the wash with all the other dish towels and Happy Valentine's Day to Me! A bunch of white dish towels and wash rags are now a beautiful color of pink, couldn't have happened at a better time!

New Year's in Blanding

The Great Sledding Hill near 4th reservoir! We spent three days there sledding, it just kept getting more and more icy, used garbage bags on the second day and by the third day they were riding each other down the hill! It was one wild hill.
Sophie riding Maggie down the hill, they seemed to like this better than the tubes we had brought.

This is us getting to the sledding hill, they all wanted to be together and not leave out any boy cousins. The girls were relegated to another vehicle. This was a slice of heaven for Jaxson, being surrounded by boys and doing boy stuff all day long.

Davin spent most of his time with someone on his back, he is one tough cousin.

New Year's eve at Stuart and Manette's place. Went outside to light fireworks in the snow. Grandma stayed inside where the noise level was more to her liking.

The Year of the Snuggie!

Guess what Grandma LaRee gave us for Christmas!
Jaxson cannot live without his and even wears it as a cape, sort of looks like "Yoda" when he is running around outside with his light saber. We are very snuggly warm and nobody fights over the blankets.
